RV heater question

That's fine until someone nudges a knob on the range in the middle of the night that starts propane filling the camper, and you don't wake up.
Sure, but people also managed to camp for generations without them...

I think I'll try buying a new one and see if that doesn't solve the issue.
 
Triggw, that’s true also. I’ve weighed the pros/cons, reliability of these CO detectors, the fact that it’s only my wife and I (no kids) in the camper, the configuration of our floor plan and how difficult (almost impossible) it would be to nudge a knob by accident, and have made a decision that’s right for us. YMMV, and your decision may vary.
 
You could use a diesel heater instead. Cheap and easy. My Boreas XT camper has a small propane heater called a Propex. About the size of a shoe box, so doesn't take up much room.
