The fore arm stock started to crack. My father in law just gave it to me. It's a 22-250. Flaw in the wood? Is there a good stock maker to go with to replace it? Thanks

There is an outfit in Wellington, Nevada. Tree bone Carving. He does pre inletted #1 stocks. He’s done some work with P-ham on here who has built some good rifles for folks on the forum.

Wood cracks. If you are handy at all, I'd look into repairing it. There are some guides online.

Otherwise, look into someone who will repair it.

Have you shot this rifle since was given to you? Do you plan to shoot the rifle?

The crack seems to be emerging at an angle appearing at the surface along a wavy seam in the grain rather than a shock crack which would arise by, for example, being dropped on the butt plate. Might be able to stabilize from the underside with a thin liquid adhesive using a syringe if the crack emerges on the underside.
