RIP Robert Duvall

I couldn't stand the guy, he called down Rooster in True Grit. He played some nefarious characters and like Bruce Dern, he did such a good job of character acting, I didn't like him.

Then came Lonesome Dove. He played Gus so well and so believeably in character, I did a complete reverse and started looking for movies he starred in and became one of my favorite actors.

Few actors make such a positive impact on an over rated industry!

“Nobody knew what form of intimidation Mr. Radley employed to keep Boo out of sight, but Jem figured that Mr. Radley kept him chained to the bed most of the time. Atticus said no, it wasn’t that sort of thing, that there were other ways of making people into ghosts.”

(Speaker: Scout Finch as the narrator about Boo Radley, Chapter 1, Page 12)

I remember seeing him in the Great Santini, I couldn’t stand him. Then I turned the corner and realized he was just a great actor. He will be missed!

he truly brought out the magic in Larry McMurtry's writing in his portrayal of Gus McRae.

I always said if I had to pick an actor to portray my father in a Biography, Robert Duvall would do him justice.

I liked his portrayal of Boss in Open Range, and saw him as Robert Duvall in it and not as Gus McRae V2.
