Rep Russ Fulcher Public Land open letter.

Aka the discussion.
We have different definitions of the word "discussion", particularly as it relates to DC. If I assume the claim is true, Fulcher talking to someone with an R next to their name on this topic is no different than discussing the outcome of last Sunday's football game of their shared favorite team. If he talked to someone with a D and was told "GTF out of my office" before he finished his sentence, that isn't a discussion.

My point is that it us not a huge logical leap to apply the same principle to the land itself.
Yes it is. One is a fixed asset that you can't make more of with varying value based on use and contents that could be very valuable from a Federal point of view. The other a replenishing asset dependent on a multitude of variables and largely homogeneous. Maybe a closer comparison for you would be water?

Sure you can. Idaho isn’t even close pulling all of the financial levers it could be to be utilizing currently.
Pipe dream for Idaho. Idaho’s legislature isn’t good with math. The state was on a streak for a few years with roughly a $50 million annual surplus. The legislature decided a $250 million tax cut would solve the surplus. The state is now dealing with a $60 million budget deficit. Idaho must have a balanced budget so the state is now cutting spending to get back to even. This math issue was pointed out at the time of the proposed tax cuts.

What happens when Fed land is given to Idaho? It will eventually get sold. The state does not have the money nor people to manage the land or fight fires. Thanks to tariffs, the whole ag industry is in trouble except for potentially beef. No industry is going to pay market rent rates.

Fulcher needs voted out of office. He’s been trouble since day 1. He gave my daughter a Naval Academy nomination two years ago. I decided to play nice out of appreciation. When the public land debate this year started again, Idaho’s representatives stood behind keeping the lands public except Fulcher. I’ll do my best to see he’s voted out of office.

And the state land they've retained is sure something isn't it? Nothing like a north Idaho moonscape after they've harvested the timber. Coming soon to the next surplus property auction likely...

Let it burn policy, which is always very popular and great for the States resources.
I'm having a little trouble read if this is sarcasm or you are serious.

This is a digression from the intent of my thread, but it's my thread.

I'm not the guy to look to for support on fire suppression.

Somehow accidentally edited this out-

I think another big burn would be the best thing in wildlife health since 1910. A good hot mosaic with good fire dependent seed germination.

Locally this year we had over $10M of federal money spent on a 1000 acre burn. There was ONE structure at risk. I watched fire contractors sitting in camp chairs doing jack shit. They had security contractors sitting at road intersections not checking anyone, just waving at rigs going by. Merch trailers selling hats and t-shirts. Local restaurants closing short term because they were awarded catering contracts for crews. A complete F'ing circus.

What I saw was a case of policy being used to make some people a lot of money from something that was not even a crisis.

Either fight the fire or let it burn. Don't make it a boondoggle.

A lot of money to be made on fires by contractors. Crew guys can make around $5k a week with per diem. One logger said he was getting paid $50k a day for the equipment he had at a fire in CA for 7 days. That was to have it on site, he would have been paid more if it was unloaded from the trailer.

Really?
Take a look at Idahos budget. Russ is just looking for something to pawn until Idaho qualifies for its next payday loan.

Idaho’s current budget is not really any of my business. That said, there are very easy and obvious ways for them to improve their budget condition, as is the case with every other western state.
