Has anyone ever done it? Experiences good or bad?

I owned a nice spotter once upon a time but my I sold it as my need for one is very limited at this point. I am headed to Montana for an elk hunt in November and I know it would be nice to have one for that trip.

A guy can rent a Swaro 65mm HD spotter for essentially $180 for a week (which would cover my needs). It likely won't leave the truck so I am not too worried about damage.

Thoughts from the tribe?

Wouldn't the 2 way shipping charges get pricey? The cost of shipping has really gone up the last couple years and with insurance cost of a top end brand it can really get up there.

I would think you would be better off to buy a middle of the pack spotter on clearance/sale. I'd see what Schmalts has.

you need more buddies. My swaro spotter is with my friend who had a Mt. Goat tag--last I heard anyway;) have not seen it in a few weeks.
