Has anyone played around with Reloader 26 in the .270 win? I want to run a 140 Accubond, but I can't find a starting point anywhere. Any thoughts would help.

I have been loading W785 in my 270 Win for several yrs. Shooting 140 gn Hornady BTSP and groups that could be covered with a quarter at 200 yds. The rifle hates 4350, 4831, 414, and 760 among a few others that I have tried. W785 was discontinued around 1983 and is listed 182 on a burn rate chart that I seen recently, Re25 is 180 on that chart. Question is will Re25 or Re26 work as well as the W785 did. I have not found Re26 on the burn chart and have found little info on it. With powder as hard to come by and prices more than doubled, just trying to find a good replacement for the W785I've tried RL26 in both my 280 Rem, and 284 Win. While being fast, recoil was harsh. The tradeoff just wasn't worth it to me.
I do use RL26 in the 7mm Rem Mag.
It is excellent in the 243 Win with 100+ gr bullets.
In my experience, Reloader 26 seems to do well when using heavy for caliber bullets in what ever cartridge you are loading for.
It's just too slow of a burn for most light bullets to build enough pressure to make it efficient.
Or has been noted previously RL-26 isn't very suitable for lighter bullets. That’s interesting… I had no pressure problems working my load up to the maximum load data that Alliant recommended for the 150 gr. I did notice that there was no RL 26 data listed for 130 gr. Bullets. Maybe that where pressures surface on the .270
I think @EastTNHunter is talking about temperatures. That’s interesting… I had no pressure problems working my load up to the maximum load data that Alliant recommended for the 150 gr. I did notice that there was no RL 26 data listed for 130 gr. Bullets. Maybe that where pressures surface on the .270
