I'll take responsibility for our sins, but sorry this is falls on the right.

You are right about it being predictable. All you needed to do is reflect on Jan 6. The blanket pardons for all involved, removes any doubt that Trump views violence as tool to use.

He is still holding some cards up his sleeve, there will be worse to come, that too is predictable.

While DHS is not exactly part of the DOJ both agencies report directly to the President. I fail to see the difference between how trump is using DHS and DOJ and how Obama used the DOJ and sometimes DHS. The only difference i see is the lens you look at both situations thru.
