Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

If you pay taxes, you and dependents are already in a national database. You can agree or disagree if it should exist or not, but it exists.
True, and that’s not what I’m getting at. This administration is the first to tie your entire identity into a single dossier- facial scans, biometric data, SSN, voter information, medical information, NFA info, everything the government has about you into a single place. And send it to outside private contractors. First, that is a security risk of epic proportions. Second, that opens the door to a lot of surreptitious surveillance without the public’s knowledge nor consent.

So you do or don't ? Thats all I was wondering.

I fail to see your point, Nick. Why would you ask me about Biden when the discussion at hand has to do with DJT and how unfairly the previous two Presidents were judged by the media over petty grievances, meanwhile the current President is potentially and possibly literally, getting away with murder? You're kind of proving my point, anytime someone brings something up about DJT, someone else will mention the previous Democrats in an attempt to deflect.

But no, based on what's been presented to me, I do not believe that he is either of those things. I'll welcome any evidence to the contrary though.

I think a lot of the issues that you've had with DJT and Biden would be resolved if you stopped electing people who should be in care homes or in an assisted living setting.

It is mind boggling how quickly we went from smaller government, right to privacy, personal responsibility and Constitution-waving to clamoring for Federal overreach, and standing in line to sign up for the surveillance state. What is happening?

There shouldn’t be a comprehensive national database on citizens at all. Ever. Linking every person’s data serves no legitimate purpose. In this day and age, data is a weapon, and will be wielded accordingly.
Preach it, lady! Everyone seems to get stupidly comfortable fast when government infringes on privacy under the pretext of a “national emergency.”

“If you’ve got nothing to hide…” is a dumb way to accept the all seeing eye of the panopticon.

I get big eye rolls from my fiancé whenever we go through customs as I opt out of facial recognition participation (as I do with TSA). This inevitably results in us sitting in a poorly lit windowless room at SLC for 20-30 minutes as they sort of punish us under the guise of “doing additional checks.”

Crapola thing is, now I’m a bit scared to insist upon this as my partner is here on a green card and it seems like the usual rules and laws don’t apply anymore. Is my concern for personal privacy worth having her end up at an internment camp in Arizona or someplace?

Anyway, it’s not all rainstorms and gloom. I’m happy that Montana has some of the strongest privacy laws in the union. Much of the unconsented surveillance tech in use today is theoretically illegal in this state. Which I presume is why we were some of the last holdouts in enforcing procurement of Real ID (until the Feds forced the issue).

I disagree but we can find out come November I reckon.
I will concede that a few percent of people who voted for this may vote for something else. But the VAST majority of those who voted for him are still overly loyal. We've beaten this dead horse to the point where it's getting hard to recognize it's still a horse, but then your idenitfy is tied to your politics, when you've convinced yourself that one side of the coin is morally just (or at least always morally above the other side), or more simply if your religion is based on an orange prophet, then you can't change. Literally can't.

We see it all over this thread and HT (and society) in general.

It's not like there aren't plenty of people on the other side of that coin with the same conviction.

Where would you put Justin ? Asking for friends and family from the Prairie Provinces…

I hear you friend...every now and then I want to believe people that voted for him are better than this.

I realize I'm more than likely incorrect in my faith in my fellow man.

You're conflating his base with moderate republicans and independents. Independents decide elections and an ever increasing percentage of which I think are becoming disgusted by this administration. Most of the independents don't need such egregious behavior to be turned off anyway.

His base can't decide an election, period. Republicans make up like 27-30% of the electorate and it's even a subset of that which would be considered his kool aid drinking, knee pad totin' base that wouldn't change their mind if Trump shot their mother in front of their own two eyes.

I think it's gonna be a republican blood bath this fall.

It is a beautiful day today in south central Montana, and I got outside. I have an eight month old setter puppy. I took her and one of my walking horses, and took her for a run. It was a very enjoyable time. I have found nothing more enjoyable than riding a good horse, handling a bird dog. This puppy may well be the biggest running bird dog, I have had. She goes with me really well, but she is comfortable getting way out there. It's too early to know, but if she gets right on her birds, she is going to be a really nice dog.

Nothing much changed while I was gone. If anyone needed proof of how despicable Trump is, he provided additional proof to the world. I have concluded that there are two camps in Trump's base. There is the camp that wishes he would refrain from his basest impulses. There is another camp that laps it up as it validates their own racism. I am about done with the first camp that want his policies but are embarrassed by some of his behavior. At some point, a political policy does not justify supporting such an amoral man.

One of his latest stunts is to withhold funding to some big infrastructure projects, unless an airport, and train station are renamed in his honor. Who the hell blackmails a society, to get things named after him?

He does not give a shit about election integrity. He is trying everything to tilt elections his way. First was the mid decade redistricting, now the talk of nationalizing the election in certain states. His interview with NBC, he listed cities he considered corrupt. The common denominator is they are heavily democratic, with many ethnic citizens.

We have not seen the worst of this man.

Your assuming an awful lot about the point I was trying to make. It was just a simple question. No motive. Thanks for answering. BTW you referenced Biden first, thats why I asked the question about him.🤷‍♂️

Just saw in the news that my Republican representative, the one strongly in favor of the public land sale, and a strong supporter of Trump, is not going to run for re election.

Seems a lot of Republicans are doing that.

Options are...

Get your as handed to you as you cling to Trump,

Or bow out and move on with life.

Agreed on the ensuing blood bath.
