I agree, if I end up buying land in MT, I will claim residency there, and I imagine others are smart enough to figure that one out also. They do get 2x the property tax, so it's not without cons.Montana doesn’t need more second and third home buyers buying up land above fair market value so they can “hunt their own land”, gate off access, gloat about their status, drive up prices, complain about the weather the politics the people the infrastructure and everything else and then take it all back to California with a cowboy hat on. “Money/cost is not an issue” is the number one slogan behind everything negative happening to Montana.
I vote Coeur d’Alene. Or stay in California like your wife suggested.
If you end up in Montana, and you dont want it to end up with endless oversight like California, don’t forget to vote like a Montanan… Regardless what your wife/siblings/parents/grandparents says.
Residency is not quite that simple, especially to qualify for a resident hunting license. Don't make the same mistake so many other NR wannabe Montanans have.I agree, if I end up buying land in MT, I will claim residency there
Is is if you're not in CA for more than 6 months of the year. For me, it's about claiming residency in another state. In order to do that I need to be outside of CA for more than 6 months. It doesn't mean I need to even be in MT, I could be anywhere, as long as I'm out of CA.Residency is not quite that simple, especially to qualify for a resident hunting license. I don't need your luck, I'm just replying to get my post count to 10 so I can send you a PM. You need to read and understand the law better. Because I'm not one of your snarky cronies, doesn't mean I don't understand the law. There are plenty of moose in both ID and MT, and I have black bear, deer, and pig to hunt in CA. The idea with moose is I only need to kill one and I will have meat to eat all year.Oh and good luck killing a Montana moose on your own place while you live in CA most of the year.
If you ACTUALLY drew a MOOSE tag, IN YOUR DISTRICT, and HAD THEM ON YOUR LAND, odds are you’d have to kill them when its still too hot to know what you’re doing by yourself, or too cold and snowy you’ll be back at your estate googling what kind of layers to wear to stay warm in a Montana winter.
But it’ll take you 20 to draw it. Ask me how I know. Stick to black bear deer and pig. I have no snarky cronies, everyone here hates me as bad as a rich CalifornianI don't need your luck, I'm just replying to get my post count to 10 so I can send you a PM. what do you have in your gym bag that weighs 40# pretty sure the only guy rolling in with that much weight in the bag is me and it’s a sand bag on my pack frame I take for walksI walked about 2 miles with my gym pack one day a few weeks ago, it weighs about 15 pounds. Was thinking it might be good to put my gym bag in my backpack, which has about 30–40 lbs of weight in it. That would be about 50-60 lbs. I'd like to plan for that, with my rifle.
Quite the imagination people have on the subject. That’s what the livewell gonna will look like with catfish and walleye. I don’t let my family shoot much past 200 yards. We got one guy we call twitch, a color blind/blind guy and another that is so ethical he’s gonna pray for a quick death before he pulls the trigger. I once brought the whole group to within 150 yards of a bachelor herd of bucks from 140-170”, 6 of em, like 7 shots went off and there wasn’t a spec of blood. Next day a 150” whitetail came in and I shot it dead at 180 yards on a trot before any of em could chamber their gun. Nah those rutting bucks are relatively safe from that group. I see one I like (over 150) I don’t need a 1k rifle to do it in. I’d get him with a bow if I had to.View attachment 375835

You haven't a clue what it takes to draw a moose tag and you think that having one on your 10-50 acres to shoot is a reasonable likelihood.. Please, start another thread about this wild hair you have but dont understand.
