RA magazine fix

The magazines for the Ruger American are notorious for not feeding rounds properly. When I rebored mine to a 338 Fed I ran into this.

Found this fix on You Tube, tried it, and Presto ! It worked. Just be careful putting the back on. There is a small hole that must be lined up with the feeder.

Quicker than trying to make an exchange for another magazine.
 
That is a great tip. My magazine does not have any issues but my hunting partners son's gun has it. I think a s good shot of silicone lubricant would also help prevent the stiction that is causing the issue.
 
That is really great. I had lots of issues with mine. They work fine, as long as you only put two rounds in them. I called Ruger and they replaced all three of mine for free. I have not had issues with the new ones-yet. I could see that the problem is a weak spring, but I was not smart enough to fix it.

I will definitely try this on one of my old mags.
