I have been looking for a solid Bi Pod style shooting stick to replace my Vangard set because my new stock forend does not fit the V head very well. I have tried trekking poles, monopods and thought maybe the Gen 3 Trigger Stick might work. Boy was I wrong, what a POS! The trigger lock does not work, the legs just randomly extend with the lock solidly on and when I put my rifle on the rest, the legs just keep sliding wider and wider or collapsing the legs. My rifle weighs in at 9lbs, surely they can do better than that for the price point. So, after some unkind words, I started to look at the BOG brand. I am not a big fan of dragging a tripod around, so this Bi Pod sticks was the compromise. I will be in Newfoundland, so sitting or prone shooting will be an exception most of the time and kneeling or standing will be the usual position. I just want something steadier than offhand or trying to use the scrub brush for support. What do you guys use? Are the BOG bipod style decent or are they just as much of a marketing scam as the Primos?

You may have gotten a dud. I’d get them to send you a replacement.

I can’t speak for the bipod but been using the trigger stick tripods for a decade. Everyone I hunt with uses them as well for drive hunting whitetails and sitting on field edges. They aren’t bomb proof, usually get 3 seasons out of one before they break or malfunction, less if you use them like a heavy duty walking stick.

I haven’t found a suitable replacement in the same category of weight and portability. The only way to go from there is a full blown tripod/gun vise set up

My uncle is still running a gen 2 trigger stick and he loves it. I gave up on sticks years ago and shoot off of a bipod or a tripod.

I have the death grip bog tripod and it is solid but as you said it's a pain to haul. If you have 2 people but only one shooter it works great because one person gets the tripod and one gets the gun.

I also use a tricer bipod. I really like it but it is super bulky and kind of heavy. But I can shoot from 6" off the ground to just about kneeling (I'm 6'1" for reference).

The other option that I have seen that looks promising is Spartans new Springbok line they look solid.

I really like my springbok from spartan, I’ve been using it the last 2 seasons. It has regular twist leg locks so it’s definitely not as fast as the trigger stick but the quality is there. I keep mine set at the height for me to be sitting on the ground, I can adjust it from there if needed

Do you have the one that unfolds to have the rear rest or just the regular bipod?

I am hoping maybe that was the case. If not, I am really disappointed in the brand, they make pretty good stuff but this one kind of ruined that for me. I need to give them a call and see what they say. . If they don't want to make good I am going to probably re machine the parts of the head that I can out of some better material.
