Pretty Deer Killer

I was able to get in one quick stand after work yesterday evening. I got lucky and howled in a triple. Of the three I was able to put two on the ground. I just couldn't quite get a shot at the third one. Almost did, had it hesitated just a half a second more I would have dumped it, but it didn't, and I didn't. However, of all the coyotes I've killed this season, this is one of the prettiest. She's a gorgeous heavily furred mature pale colored female. She might be pretty, but I'm sure she's killed her share of deer and taught her young to do so as well. Nice to have her no longer roaming the hills.

The rifle is a Ruger Hawkey Predator in 22-250 with a Bushnell 6500 Elite Tactical 4.5x30x50 scope. The bipod is a Harris. The set up is extremely effective for killing coyotes on calling stands. I also use a Bog Bear bi-pod for steeper terrain. The ammo is Hornady Superformance 50gr VMax.

Earlybird, I shot this pretty one first. The second coyote stopped a little over 300 yards in a real brushy/tall grassy area. It dropped dead at the shot, but after it hit the ground I couldn't see it because of the vegetation. Then I spotted the third coyote and took my attention away from where the second coyote dropped. When I went to get it, I couldn't find it in the tall grass. It was a dark colored coyote in dark brush. So my plan is to try and run up there after work tonight and see if I can spot a magpie or two on it. I really could have used a tracking dog or a second set of eyes to keep an eye on where it dropped. Trying to find it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
