Possible Grizzly Bear hunt in Rockies

I've not heard word of this before now, but I saw this today on msn. It looks like there is a proposed Grizzly Bear hunt that is being put on the table for the Glacier NP and Yellowstone NP areas. I don't know enough about this, but I'd like to hear what the locals have to say about the grizzly populations in these areas.

That sounds like a fun hunt, but probably one of the hardest you could possibly have.

My parents live in the northern section of the North Fork of the Flathead. This national forest directly borders the western side of Glacier National Park. I spent the 16th to the 23rd of November hunting within a 5-7 mile radius of their home. I saw 3 different grizzlies on those days and didn't spend a day without seeing fresh grizzly tracks. My opinion and the opinion of all those I know who live in that area is that their needs to be a Grizzly season sooner than later. With a limit of only 2 wolves per year to be harvested in that unit and more and more problem Grizzlies being regularly dumped in that area, it is quickly becoming a predator pit.

We are recovered both in the biological sense and the legal sense. Hunting should happen and is a part of all three state's approved management plans.

I don't know many people that would eat grizzly. I knew of a couple Native Alaskans but other wise, I have never eaten it. From what I understand, grizzlies are more known for carrying Trichinosis.

I'm guessing some taste like pepper spray and hikers. BW, I had never heard that, but, I can say I learned something today. Thanks. I would think that cooking the meat fully would kill that, I'm pretty sure it does in pork ( bacon).

I wonder what an interior Alaska grizzly with a diet heavy on berries tastes like. Trich is a concern with all bears as week as wild hogs....but easily mitigated as it dies at 137 degrees.
