Patriotism

Even in liberal Portland there may be hope. My 5 year old who just started kindergarten does the pledge of alligiance and sings My Country, Tis Of Thee every morning to start class. This is in a public school with an older teacher that obviously wants to promote patriotism. I think I'm gonna like Mrs. Green!!

There are plenty of good patriotic teachers out there, its the State Dept of Ed, School boards and worthless parents that cause a lot of the trouble in public schools. Not saying that there arent worthless teachers out there, but they are given a curriculum that the State gives them to follow.

My wife makes her 5th grade class say the Pledge, in fact its required for the whole school, its the parents that make their kids opt out. Plus the kids get a kick out of Ruth being an Army veteran which a growing number of so-called "Patriots" cant claim.
