Helo all,

My brother and I decided that we will be going to western Wyoming (Region H) for a mule deer rifle hunt next year. We have been looking over the area by google earth for quite some time and we have the area picked out that we would like to hunt. After reviewing the distance (4-5 miles) and the proposed elevation gain (~ 3,500 feet), we decided that it would be best to have someone with pack horse drop us off at our proposed location and then come pick us up at the end of the hunt. Can anyone reccomend someone with horses that would provide this type of service in the Bondurant, Hoback, Jackson areas? Thank you in advance.

Wyoming Outfitters have Geographic Territories. So you need to find out who is permitted in the area you want to hunt. Call the Forest Service and ask them who holds the guide permit in the area.

pack animals

hunted same area last year solo, muley and elk. did it only with my two legs and shot a great buck and bull, while it was a ton of work it was awesome. I pushed myself and made the hunt very rewarding. I was 6 miles off the trailhead and 3000' elevation difference so thinking back now you might what to get the horses...lol i seen a guy drop a half dozen pack horses/hay/pack gear off at base camp next to me so i know you can rent but not sure if anyone will do a drop camp there, i think forest service has a say.

I have seen drop camps up cliff creek, tin cup area, and above crystal hot springs,so I know it is doable
