Anybody ever get their fall season held hostage by a pacer battery replacement? Swapped to all long shots, including WY elk, hoping not to draw this year due to premature retirement and pacer battery forecast to expire. My cardiologist is monitoring the power level monthly as the battery is due to run out by July/August/Sept, when insurance will pay for a replacement. They won’t pay for it until it drops below a voltage threshold they set. I can’t do it before they approve, so any tag this year would be a real gamble.

Isn't the battery replacement a quick procedure? Just don't plan a hunt for the monthly checks, and a few days either side?

Yes, but scheduling a surgery date is a whole nother ballgame at Northwestern Medicine. I will have very little control, if any, when it comes to that. I typically have to book three months in advance just for an office visit to see my electrocardiologist.
