One Piece of Advice

Be prepared to work at it. You can be productive as a beginner if you work at it and study elk. I recommend you look at elk101.com and take their 99.00 course. It was helpful for me to boost my success with it. The elk are out there, it is up to you to find them and learn their habits.

Always hunt with the wind right. And if you can’t get the wind right don’t hunt the area.

So right. An elk's primary defense is his keen scent detection. They can smell you a mile away. Never approach elk downwind of you ever. Go around and try to get at them from the sides or against the wind.

Learn to hunt where others won’t go and accept the fact that there will most likely always be hunting pressure but don’t let it discourage you.
