One deer hates coyotes and the 270

My boy was out hunting , Not much information just some pictures.
-22* this morning and he is out before day brake, Long walk.
He said he saw nothing, but two coyotes running towards him.
He was getting set to shoot the dogs when he saw what was chasing them his way, A 4 point mule deer, head down and running hard. WHAT?
Anyway he set still till the deer got to 'bout 70 yards, he lets out a "Woof" the deer stopped then the deer dropped...
