olympic swim team....

That's a pity, 5th, i expect the error by the starter didnt help, but Soni getting beaten by the 15 year old, i think it is the first medal her country have ever won, and she is trained in Plymouth by a british coach, just down the road from me yet until this week i have never heard of her.
But missy franklin, gold!
Cheers
Richard

I think she got a raw deal, she should have just kept going!! the starter screwed up, not her. She knows that affected her and others but she's not the only one that's had issues with the electronics there.Every now and then you get thrown a curve ball, it's what you do with the next pitch that really matters. She's got a chance at swimming in the relay prelims on Friday and even if they use Soni for the finals, she'll still get a medal if they get one in the final. I hope they give her a chance. She said it wasn't the fact that she didn't medal, it's the fact she didn't get to see how fast she could really go. That's why she's really hoping for the relay shot to see what her time could have been. Plus she'd get a medal as well.
Thanks for all the positive comments about her on here.

Awesome gal! Sure hope she gets in the relay!

It's not the medal, it was to see how fast she could do it... man, tell ya - if that is not TRUE GRIT I don't know what is - I will remember that line Bdidaho when I'm mucking up in my recovery.

Regardless, her qualifying score says it all!

Sure hope she gets in the relay.

I didn't get to see what happened. Could someone fill me in? Bummer.

The starter usually tells the swimmers to take their mark before the starting beep goes off. In her race the beep went off before he told them to take their mark and Breeja took off but nobody else did. They reviewed it and did not DQ her but everybody had to sit around while they checked out the starter and everybody was getting cold and it shook everybody up.She was definitely shook up and ended up 6th with her slowest time of the Olympics. And even with all that she was so close to a bronze. She wants to swim at least the prelims of the relay to see what her split would be, The coaches want to keep the prlim team under wraps so we won't know until they swim it.

Thanks for all the interest in her from a bunch of hunters. With all the ups and downs for her in London, I thought I'd post a picture my son took of her with their friend. She did get to swim the prelim but was told your job is to get the team to the finals and nothing more. That means no early starts that would DQ the team. Just do your job. She did not get to swim the final but she still got a medal as part of the relay team and a gold one at that. The finals team ended up breaking the wolrd record and a large part of that is the split Soni had so Breeja will have to wait her turn but will probably be at the worlds next year in Spain. And She is already pumped for Rio in 4 more years. I know I am planning on being there.

Very cool. She has to be very proud, as must all those who know her. Good luck to her in Rio.

Great experience, I am sure! What an amazing adventure and to be continued...!
