Number of tags for goats in MT - 313

A guy at work drew a tag for 313 - Crazy Mountains. I told him congrats and then he told me he applied there because of all the tags they gave out - something like 60 tags.

I thought that was kind of weird, so I checked the regs and it says 84 either sex goat tags.

So are they trying to get rid of all the goats?

That unit is loaded with goats it has slowly went up for several years now the population is booming up there I reckon. I quit applying for that unit two years ago, the tags numbers are also drawing lots of applicants.

I drew there last year and ran into the biologist while hunting. He said that the population hit record high numbers in the 70's and the population crashed soon after. The population now has surpassed the 70's population so the state is trying to lower the amount of goats in the Crazies.
