I deleted the pic of the guy he ate due to the fact the body had no clothes on.. but its the one that someone else has posted in the adult section...
Dan you spreading rumors again

Jim and Ted will be forever famous in bear lore over this one. I got sick and tired argueing with people over this, so now I just laugh and ignore it.

Now that is a monster, no matter how the pic is taken...
12 and a half feet...Wheww...

As soon as Bill gets back, I will scan this newspaper article sitting right in front of me...I was surprised to see the post above, then to go to Wally world and there is this same picture along with the article...
The bear was 1200 lbs and stood 10 feet 6 inches, shot by Ted Winnen in Chugach National Forest, on Hinchinbrook Island in October 2001...

:

"This might make you want to carry a really big gun when you go to Alaska.

This is absolutely shocking, make sure your not eating when you look at the third picture. Alaska salmon fishing looks like it may be on the back burner for a while. The following pictures are of a guy who works for the forest Service in Alaska. He was out deer hunting. A large world record Grizzly charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy unloaded a 7mm Mag Semi-auto into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The thing was still alive so he reloaded and capped it in the head. It was over one thousand six hundred pounds, and 12' 6" high at the shoulder. It's a world record. The bear had killed a couple of other people. Of course, the game department did not let him keep it. Think about it. This thing on its hind legs could walk up to the average single story house and could look on the roof at eye level. Also his last meal was human. "
