I am sure most are well aware of my dislike of the corrupt two-party duopoly. My effort in future political activities is to do what I can to oppose the stranglehold the two parties have that results in people who have a 10% approval rating getting reelected 95% of the time.

This is my second of three podcasts I intend to do with Seth Bodnar. Most people tell me I am wasting my time to think that independent candidates have a chance, whether here in Montana or in Nebraska or anywhere else. I guess I’m too bullheaded to listen to their advice.

When it comes to the issues of hunting, shooting, public lands, and conservation the two parties provide lip service to whatever degree they find useful for their own reelection. If I wanted any lip service out of them, I could probably scrape it off the zipper of their donors and their lobbyist.

Podcast number two, a shorter version than the last one, is below. To hell with the Rs and to hell with the Ds.

Nov. 3 - Independents’ Day? | Hunt Talk Radio Episode 296

Half way through the first podcast you did with him. What a breath of fresh air listening to someone not completely full of shit for a change.

My wife and I just filled out our ballots, two more votes for Bodnar.

I do not think he will be able to garner more total votes than Alme. I think Bodnar and Bankhead, will have more votes between them, than Alme. But, that is a moral victory, at best.

I hope I 194 passes. Of course it will trigger a fight, about its constitutionality.

Me too - and my wife.

Hes pro-choice - which is a problem for me and her both - but ive come to grips that being a single issue voter means losing on other issues.

Hope Seth can shock the world of politics with a win, jolt of reason, and independent thought.
A little compromise would go a long ways these days. From everyone.

Good podcast. I wish him the best. I did chuckle at the power assigned Chuck Schumer. That guy gets piled on by Democrats. He has little sway anymore. I still think the voters are the problem. Calling yourself independent or moderate and not participating in non-presidential votes is a great way to elect extremists. For many, switching votes to someone else is like admitting they were wrong.

Sadly, compromise died a long time ago and I'm not sure we can resurrect it. Inflicting pain on others seems to be the theme these days.

There's not much difference between choosing only to vote for an Independent compared to choosing only to vote for Ds or Rs. In any case, just a bit over two weeks of ads left.

Idk I know more people that our disgusted with bith parties than ever before.
Sure, but that is because blaming the "parties" keeps people from taking even a small part of the responsibility for this shit show. Ask them why they are disgusted. I am willing to bet it is because they want a candidate that agrees with them on everything. It won't because politicians don't compromise anymore. If they got their perfect candidate, they wouldn't want them to compromise.

The site shows 173 Independent candidates. We will know on 11/4 how deep the "outrage" runs.

No, I believe they just want a candidate who puts their state or their country first, which is the opposite of what we get from either party. They especially want the working class put first as do I.

Nahp, if an indy were popular enough one of the parties would've scandalized or bought em...or bought em then scandalized em. Ma Texas has Paxton's wife doin' GOP schlep ads non stop as her pending ex and Talarico circle the flush.

I think most of us think it's crazy that campaigns are costing millions of dollars for positions that pay around $175K. No matter if you are calling yourself a R, D, or I, there's probably more than just voting for your constituents that's going on.

This page suggests that there is over 18 million being spent on the Montana Senate race.

I think the details of that discussion would be interesting, but not time for that here. What is sounds like you want, generally, is the Labour Party in Great Britain. The number of seats they hold changes drastically too. For the same reason- "anger with the parties or system". The phenomenon we see is not just in the US.

"Working class" has become a bumper sticker term. 22% of Americans are collecting SS and 40% enrolled in either medicare or medicaid. This is why we now have an oligarchy. Everyone wants theirs.

Big Fin said "both parties" were attacking Bodnar, but as I mention on the another thread, the Democratic party pulled support for Bankhead some time ago and the major PAC behind her did the same. They would do anything they can, but they can't make her drop out of the race. Not sure who is funding those ads. Maybe she has a gofundme?

Regarding the SS, medicare, medicaid numbers, the 40% enrolled in medicare or medicaid does not surprise me, at all.

The overwhelming percentage of SS recipients, also are on medicare. That leaves about 20% of the population on medicaid. Most of them are the working poor. I think there is a significant number of children on medicaid, if their parents do not have employer provided health insurance.
