I have killed two bulls with mechanical heads, and one with a fixed. I switched to a fixed blade due to being able to re-sharpen after a miss. The issue I have with mechanical is they seem to be a one and done. Mechanicals do get the job done, but I’m glade I made the switch to fixed.

I killed these 2 yrs ago with the same SEVR 2.1" resharpened after each one.

I've killed around 25-30 deer, mostly whitetail and 4 mule deer, with different versions of the Rage Hypodermic - regular, +P, NC, etc.

They're cheap, shoot straight, and kill stuff just fine. As long as you accept that they're a one-time-use disposable, it's a good option.

I bounced one off the sternum of an elk in Montana. Tried switching to a Sever and bounced one off the shoulder of a bull in New Mexico. Both were shooters error, but just in case I'll be 100% fixed blades on elk from here on out.

Those are some great looking animals! I will take a look at SEVR 2.1.

2.1" is an older model. They carry 1.5", 1.75" and 2.0" now.

I wouldn't shoot the 2.0" unless you are shooting heavy poundage or long draw length. I'm shooting a 495 gr arrow in the low 280s fps and consider that around the min to shoot 2.0" expandable at an elk.

Have you noticed any difference between the collard and NC heads? I've used the orginals and then hypodermic always with a collar and have killed probably close to the same amount of deer. Except one shoulder shot I've always had a complete pass through. Picked up a pack of NC last season and shot a buck perfect broadside right behind the shoulder 35 yards without a pass through didn't hit the offside shoulder still not sure why. I’ve made that shot dozens of times with a collard rage and always blew through only thing I can figure I the NC system caused it. Makes me leary to use them again.

I’ve had amazing luck with the raptor tricks gonna switch this year because of that jig

I do believe the NC system takes more energy to open than the collared system. I prefer the older collared versions.

Fixed for 25 years or so now. Once less thing to worry about.

Currently shooting 2 blade unvented VPA double bevel 150 grain. Really tough head. Before that I shot 125 grain Magnus Stingers 2 blade for a long time. They are great heads for the money and come nice and sharp. Both work great on elk with a low poundage bow due to a bad shoulder.
