The Cleveland, Angeles and San Bernardino National Forests are shut down to recreational use, including hunting, except for a few developed campgrounds due to extreme fire hazards. The deer season starts Saturday in most of those forests. :(

Actually, the best thing for a lot of those forests would be to have a fire. The underbrush is so thick in many areas that it supports little or no wildlife. A good burn would improve the habitat immensely, but that threatens Yuppie homes...

I hunt on private property, so it won't affect me unless I am too paranoid about being the guy on the 6:00 news who started the latest fire.... the quail hunters will really be upset, though, in a few weeks!
