NM Unit 17

Looking for anyone who might have hunted elk in New Mexico unit 17 this year. I am going in early November for mule deer. Any help on deer sightings would be appreciated.

Ive hunted the unit and had good luck down in the flats on all sides. The trick for 17 is finding the water. Whether it be springs tanks or creeks the animals need water every day. Look neer the pinon and juniper areas you could see farther in this places so you could see them first. Need access roads from the national forest all around but you need a 4x4 if the weather turns bad

I like the pinon and juniper areas on both sides but the lower 1/2 of the unit east side around T or C is pretty good.. Will look at my maps to see some names of some good canyons to start with
