I think there are a number of factors.
The left trend to prioritize empathy while being geographically and economically removed from the costs.
There is no statistical reason why immigrants are intrinsically bad.
They value governing themselves.
And they want to stick it to conservatives (pretty big factor).

We see it everywhere, once you've identified the enemy (the other political party) then anything they support must be bad and rebutted.

There also wasn't intentionality to it. Certainly it was a piss poor response, but the surge started during Trumps term, and had a large economic driver.

The sanction + corrupt management destruction of the Venezuelan economy and the stagnation of the global economy during covid led to massive South American migration with rumors of opportunity in America. When I was in Panama in 2023 there was a constant stream of migrants walking north through David just because that's what everyone else was doing.

You might want to review your civics classes. It’s a federal law, so it would have to be repealed by Congress before DJT could sign it. He can’t do this by executive order.

Constitutional rights are not absolutes, but that doesn’t make them privileges.

My first amendment right to free speech doesn’t allow me to slander someone.

My fourth amendment right doesn’t protect my home from a valid judicial search warrant.

My fourth amendment right doesn’t protect me from a search of my person if I’m lawfully arrested.

I lose my right to vote if I’m a convicted felon (reinstating this right varies by state).

Back to the original point of the thread, exercising my 2nd amendment rights should not warrant cops shooting me while the are incompetently and possibly illegally using force while trying to take me into custody.
