Interesting report on the degree of public support for hunting and shooting.

It's encouraging but support drops dramatically for trophy hunting and captive/fenced hunts.

This is why it was so important in the fight against prop 127 to point out to Colorado voters that mountain lion hunting here is not "trophy hunting" and that "trophy hunting" as defined as killing animals solely for their trophy parts is illegal here. That's what turned nonhunters in our favor.

As it should. Fenced hunts are essentially shooting captive wildish livestock. No fair chase, no conservation involved. Also useful for transmitting diseases to wild populations with no immunity.
