A family friend told me he was going to hand down his Smith and Wesson .44 mag. That was 15 years ago, and I honestly didn't think the day would ever come. Ported barrel and professional trigger job. Not sure what happened to the grips. Those will be replaced.

Nice! I shot my first handgun animal (a small five point bull) with a 4” 629. I sold that to a friend for a reason I now forget. He mentioned the other day that he still had it.

Replace the grips with Hogue. My carry gun for griz areas is a Taurus Tracker .44 mag loaded with 300 gr hard cast. Packs a punch, but when you figure out how to manage the recoil, kind of fun to shoot. Have fun with it, can't limp wrist them at all.

A friend had a 4" 500 Smith, it was heavy enough that shooting two handed was a breeze, but kind of hurt the web of the hand shooting it one-handed. Got to have a strong grip.
