I'm hoping some of you here are smarter than me, (elkgunner that means you) I am building a website and need to know if there is a maximum amount of keywords I can use. For example can I use 100 keywords? Can I use porn more than once. I dont know chit about keywords but do not how to build a site. Any webheads or html geeks have an answer??

Key words have always been a well duh question with me. from teh reading I have done it doesnt make to much difference, but I add them in anyway. you words that describe your product or site in general terms like

My bass fishing site AZBassZone

bass,fishing,Bassfishing,azbassfishing,azfishing, etc.

I also name the lakes in az and throw a few baits that are popular in as well.

the main thing is that if you want it to come up on a search engine to call it up then click on that link dont goto your site direct clcik the search link.

Thats just from what I read,
Also make sure your pages are all working or yahoo and a few others wont look at the site when you submit it.

heres a sample code for the keywords

Code:

I have the page refresh after 1200 seconds also

I am still learning the tricks so to speak so if you find anything new let me know as well. Also there is good info on meta tags if you do a search for it.

sorry it wouldnt let me print the exact code. goto my site and click view then source and read it

Any words that you think will be used as a search word should be used. You can use the same word more than once, but change it. For instance, if you use bass, also use BASS and Bass as everyone types it in differently. You can uses as many words as you like. Also use a meta tag description. This should be a description of the site and also within the first paragragh or sentencs of the site. You can also use a combination of words. Take Del's example which I have added to.

"keywords" content="Fishing, Arizona, message board, chat, lures, tackle, soft plastic, bass, fish, angler, angling, pole, rod, boat, motor, boats, motors, zone, lakes, maps, saguaro, pleasant, canyon, roosevelt, apache, bartlett, alamo, smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, yellow, white, rods, reels, del-mart, tournament, senko molds, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rods and reels, fishing poles lake saguaro, lake pleasant, Lake Pleasant, Lake Saguaro, bass fishing, Bass Fishing, Arizona Fishing, fishing tackle, bass lures, bass rigs and so on"

I understand what keywords I can use, I used some in my fathers website, I am just not sure if you can use to many. Is there a point were if you have to many the search engine skips you?

Elkhunter, I am using front page 2000 for now but it can not handle what I want it to do. Right now I am using front page to put up the front page of the site. I will be switching to Dreamweaver MX 2004 but in order to do that I need a new machine as the one I am using now just wont handle that program. My computer really slows down when using photoshop 7, so much so that when using a layer option style I have to get up and go do something like read a book or build a house. Since a new machine is out until late spring I will get the front page up and then build my data bases to put up at a later date.

Seriously, I have had a bit of experience with GeoCities (Yahoo)and AOL Hometown. I have a webpage both places and both have an available HTML editor that is very easy to work with. Most of the search engines will pick up on your title line as well as the key-words. Different phrases from the text section will show up on the search engine as well.

I am moderator and use HTML coding to update the website for another group I'm associated with. What I use for my HTML editor with that one is MicroSoft Wordpad.

Hope this helps.
