Went to Nebraska for a long weekend with my middle son, picked him up from his college and headed out. Had two delays one on I-435 for and hour and one on I-29 for 3 hours due to and overturned semi carrying sulfuric acid packed in nitroglycerin. Finally get to camp at 1 am. Hunted Friday and got into a few it was hot, my buddies got to camp late Friday afternoon, as they were setting their tent and stuff we headed out for a quick hunt in a different area, to see if we could find some for the morning hunt. As we were out there we were paused on a ridge and I heard a buzzing sound and thought it was a grasshopper, I've never heard one before. And I was within two feet of a rattlesnake, I shot it and my dog came to the shot and I think there might have been two but as she was coming to me she got bit. Had to go to vet, got her taken care of, got back to camp. Hunted with the other dogs the rest of the weekend. I was sure disappointed as I was wanting to get her some experience. We got 4 over the weekend. Had a blast except for the snakebite. Saw the truck on I-80 on the way home. Bout a month and we’ll be heading to Wyoming for elk and pronghorn.
