Just curious if anyone uses the navionics app for the iPad. As far as I've been able to tell it gives you everything that you would get when you buy the chip for your GPS/Fishfinder.
My thought process was mounting my ipad on my dash of the boat, with the navionics screen on while still using the depthfinder/fish finder on the right. As far as I understand the 3g iPad has built in GPS so it would be able to track your movement along the lake. I am guessing the iPad screen will be more difficult to see in the sunlight as Lowrance and Hummingbird build their screens differently.
Curious if anyone else has went down this path.
