Not your typical hunting dog, but we have two of those....
Our lil' Izz, RIP this past May, 16 years old. Still stings.... These were taken October of 2017 on her big trip - mostly deaf, a lot blind, but still truckin' - antelope and turkey hunting.
Was a special trip, especially for my wife. And me.

Sadie my 12 year old lab, she is almost completely deaf now and moving pretty slow keeps our bird hunting trips very short but I wouldn’t trade those short hunts for anything. Have walked hundreds of miles chasing pheasants and sharptails over the years. Now she is pretty content with a nap in the pickup and a short walk, this may be her last season in the field and she will probably just hang around camp most of the time. I’ve always thought that we don’t deserve dogs, even in our worst times they always seem to bring out the good in us.

The worst fish/hunt dog ever. She barks at fish, even the thought of fish, she won't stay anywhere near me, constantly running off to find dead things to roll in and/or eat, she swims through you're fishing hole, she won't point birds, she won't retrieve birds, she won't even look for birds... in the same county you're in. But I still love her. She's all grey now and only has a year or two left.

Dogs represent a lot of what dog people are. My 4 year old in the rear, my 12 year old in the front. Those two girls, - a great bird hunting past, an anticipated just around the corner season, and hopeful (yet with the knowledge of realities to come...) future of more great hunts.

Usually all business when the shot gun is out - sometimes a dork then, too.
In her defense, we were NOT hunting big black birds, and she had just come out of photo right the same time the birds made their escape behind her. And a stiff headwind was at her pointer's nose.
Regardless, not a "best gun dog ever!" photo, maybe best doofus photo ever...............

My Great Dane Boris. 165 pounds of pure rabbit chasing machine. Only problem is, he'd jump a rabbit and chase it, so I could never shoot it.....but there's not much I wouldn't trade to have one more rabbit hunt with him. I got him soon after I got back from Iraq. He was my best friend and partner in crime for 10 1/2 years. He got me through surgeries and a nasty relationship break up and some of my darkest hours when I couldn't escape my own private hell in my head. He also liked fishing too.
