Ok an update…
I went over to the unit today. Did some glassing from the highway and hiked a couple miles up a ridge and glassed some more between snow squalls. Didn’t see a single sheep! Couple muleys and possibly a bull elk..



2 weeks ago I did see 4 rams. They were a good 2 miles (as crow flies) and 3600’ up. From what I could tell there weren’t any real big ones so I didn’t go after em…
I’m hoping for some snow! And waiting another week or so before I get real serious about it.

I have been doing some hunting around home for deer and elk, as well as helping the family out here and there. My wife hadn’t shot a deer in a few years so we went on a road hunt one evening. We’ve discovered that’s about all you can do with a 2 year old haha! Found some does on some public not to far off the road. Parked the truck out of sight and started a stalk when I look up and here were about half a dozen does trotting towards us! I got the gun set up while Rebekah held the kiddo then we switched positions. The deer ended up feeding in to about 150 yds and she shot the biggest doe! It was very windy which I think helped hide us a bit because there wasn’t to much stealthiness going on lol!
Nikki did real good though and hardly made a peep.
She loved touching the deer and when we came home she said,
“Mom that was so fun”.. proud dad moment for sure!
And now one of her favorite bedtime stories is the ‘deer story’. Im thinking it’s about time for her first bow??
