Hard to blame those that didn’t help. Would look at if from the aspect of I’ve waited multiple years to draw an elk tag and might have a handful of days to hunt. Cutting into my hunt time to help the stranger who didn’t plan isn’t high on the list. Need pulled out or a piece of equipment sure. Hike in to gut an elk that’s not mine…hard pass

Great story, many of us who do solo hunts have found ourselves in over our head a time or 10. Makes for indelible great memories, sometimes only have a lot of time has passed do we realize begin in over our heads was not as bad as we thought at the time.

Same here. Hard to imagine guys sitting around camp refusing a fellow hunter help. Everyone will need help at one thing or another eventually. How times have changed.
