Mule kills cougar

Anybody seen this?
It was emailed to me and I don't know if its the real deal or an elaborate hoax.

A couple from Montana were out riding on the range, he with his rifle and she (fortunately) with her camera. Their dogs always followed them, but on this occasion a Mountain Lion decided that he wanted to stalk the dogs (you'll see the dogs in the background watching). Very, very bad decision...

The hunter got off the mule with his rifle and decided to shoot in the air to scare away the lion, but before he could get off a shot the lion charged in and decided he wanted a piece of those dogs. With that, the mule took off and decided he wanted a piece of that lion. That's when all hell broke loose... for the lion.

As the lion approached the dogs the mule snatched him up by the tail and started whirling him around. Banging its head on the ground on every pass. Then he dropped it, stomped on it and held it to the ground by the throat. The mule then got d own on his knees and bit the thing all over a couple of dozen times to make sure it was dead, than whipped it into the air again, walked back over to the couple (that were stunned in silence) and stood there ready to continue his ride... as if nothing had just happened.

Fortunately even though the hunter didn't get off a shot, his wife got off these 4...

OLD, OLD, OLD news.......and the story gets funnier and funnier as it goes, thats one of the best so far. What part of any of that story would you believe....think about it. The photos are real thats for sure, but that lions been dead long before that mule ever sank its teeth into it, I geuss I should step off my soapbox but this email and pics are becoming a pet peeve.....lol.

I got that same "version" the other day but I see someone added in the part about the woman having her "camera"... A lion the size of an over grown tom cat charges a couple hound dogs... Those people in MT must be kind of kooky... taking thier hound dogs for a "ride" with tracking collars? I thought they always followed them, why would they need tracking collars?

The best is... the guy riding the range turned into a hunter... and he couldn't get his gun out in time, but was able to take pictures. surrrrre

If someone believs that a mule could catch a lion... uh I have some ocean front property for sale in Montana...

When I road my dogs I put tracking collers on them you never know when you might hit a track and the dogs are off. Had it happen one time and did not have the collers on thats not fun.... O ya I am from MT to so what does that make me?????

The story didn't say anything about roading thier dogs... its said out for a ride... it also said that they always followed them.

Would your hound dogs stood there and watched as they were being "stalked"?

BTW... Would you get on that mule that is "ready to ride" after that fiasco???

Snopes doesn't know the truth. I have a Friend that said HIS friend was with them.

They actually lost a Dog in the Fight before the Horse jumped in and atacked the lion. If you need, I think I could repost the story as I "remember it" .....

Its all true!! My brothers, friends cousin's dad knows the guy who's son lives down the road from the grandfather of the guys dad who owned the mule before it was sold to this guy. The Mule is at this time being held without bail for mistakenly killing a protected Jaguar in AZ.

it was staged.
The pic is out of az about 2-3 years ago.
the lion is dead and has been dead for a while.

If you look at the dogs in the background you will notice they dont move an inch the whole time.
Its BS and the guy who took the pics said he was messing around

If that cat is alive it ain't by much--how can you deduce that it's alive in the pic--I don't see it--yes it could be and it may not be--so no real concrete evidence there--it is indeed old--I saw it last year and if I remember right the truth was the cat was dead or almost dead and the mule went on an pussy munching, scrunching, ASS kickin' tirade as it was lying there---the pics are great though ---and I am the brother's, dads, cousin......chris
