I took my buck into the taxidermist to start the process and am now trying to decide how to mount it. I'm leaning towards a pedestal mount or a wall mount where he is quartering to. Here are a couple mounts that I've seen recently that I like. Let's see some others that you have had done or really like.

Love the bases in that first pic! Drooling over the deer on the far left as well.

If I was mounting something on a pedestal I would want to use something from the area in which it was shot...or even some of the same type scenery, etc. Just really brings it a lot more personal when it all came from the same spot.

I like the wall pedestals as well instead of the old fashioned flat mount on the wall. I also like the semi-sneak pose.

My last elk I had a pedestal mount just because I don't have the wall space and I could put it in front of a window or in the corner of the room.

If you have the wall space the wall pedestal is the way I would go.

The nice thing about the floor pedestal is being able to get all angles of the rack, and still being able to get your hands on it. Carl Chavez at Mountain Legends in Belen, NM did this mount. I love it. Simple and elegant...

I only put Euro skulls on the wall anymore though have 4 shoulder mounts on the wall. I now put shoulder mounts on wooden pedestals that are a simple Shakeresque design with no shelves or internal storage. Pedestals are easy to move if want to rearrange a room or if move to a new home.

Is your trophy, though, so what really matters is what looks good to you.

The cool thing about the top pedestals on a Juniper stump is that they pivot on the stump with the push of your pinky finger. Pretty cool way to interact with and show off your trophy.
