A friend of ours has graciously offered us the opportunity to hunt deer and antelope on their property in unit 600 in MT. From what I can tell, drawing this tag as a non-resident is pretty difficult. However, there were a number of non-resident "landowner" tags that went unclaimed in 2019. Is this a tag we can draw or can be transferred to us in some way? Or is it only for landowners? I apologize if I'm missing it in the regs somewhere but I just can't seem to find it.

I believe landowner tags are just for landowners and they are unable to sell them. If I'm wrong I'm sure I will be corrected shortly.

Following is language right out of the regulations:

• A landowner may designate his/her preference to a member of his/her immediate family (blood or marriage related) or a ranch manager (paid employee who has state, federal, or FICA taxes withheld from pay). Only one person may use designated preference in a partnership or corporation.

Thanks guys. Looks like we're out of luck with only one point unless we go after the B tags, which I have no problem doing lol.

Just an FYI, Pronghorn HD 600 boundaries will likely change "soon" (smaller). Your private land connection could be in another HD. Also, there were only 5 doe/fawn tags last year in 600. Best of luck.

Interesting. They are pretty near the center of the unit but I'll have to check closer to the season.
