Most overrated band of all time

You know, I hate to break it to you Gen X-ers, but pretty much everything from the 80's, that wasn't country, was trash and since some of you like it, I'm going to call it overrated.

Peak 80s

Yes I know it was all kind of an unserious goof, but still…

For me. It has to be the Beatles. I understand the historical significance but the music is not great.
Honorable mention: Rolling Stones

Nah, just proves to me that none of yall actually listen to country.

I could name 5 legitimately quality country bands real quick that have been in active in the last 15 years.
Listen to all kinds of it. I was referring ti mainstream country radio in my original post.

...again, too many....But I'll jump in.
Most any Metal/Hair band. Most likely the reason for excessive drinking by me...FM radio on job sites and the reason for NO Dogs or Radios sign on my jobs.
90% of country today...pop.

Has there been a good band in the last 25 years?

It’s been that way forever too. There isn’t much shortage of good country available right now IMO.

That said, I do find Chris Stapleton a bit overrated 😉
Have you seen him live? Chubby, ragged beard, and sounds better in person. To each their own though. My wife and I saw Stephen Wilson Jr. love this year, and will again this summer. He is freaking awesome. His style is even more outlaw rock country in person.

A lot of music in the 80’s was created for the video on MTV, which degraded the pool. But the 80’s had some really good music too.

I don’t listen to country so can’t opine. It mostly all sounds the same to me. But enjoy your hard candy Christmas. 🎅

Overrated doesn't mean bad. I think he's great. Absolutely phenomenal vocalist.

I honestly didn't know about him until he blew up. Some great songs that became really old really quick to me. He's got a very repetitive lyrical and musical style I feel like. I dunno, just my IMO. Maybe it's just that most of his stuff is cut for the radio now 🤷‍♂️

Now, when I came upon those songs from The Steeldrivers when he was in it, that sure felt like some much more interesting and dynamic music to me.
