I think Queen is properly rated on most lists I see. They were willing to do different things in rock. The music may not be everyone's style, but I would say they were influential enough to be on the list.

It is hard to rate types of music I don't listen to. I'm not much into alt rock, but Radiohead seems to be on everyone's list and I just don't get it. I guess a lot of the "Top Bands" lists are made by the British so maybe that is how they get so high.
