Moose 25

I'm blown away that people cross that river on a fourwheeler. Someone died there a few years back and I think a couple others have died there in the last 10-15 years. It seems to eat a few machines every year. Those moose buggies are the only way I'd even consider crossing it.

What a great trip. Curious on day of kill +/- Seems like rutting and response is really good around the 10-14, then sightings get better but they're less responsive to calling after that? I'm a novice moose hunter, always looking to learn.
Moose calling is an art form, and I'm a student. For us, most moose put in the freezer, are from spot to stalk Hunting. I've shot a lot of moose from tree stands. That's a lot of hours, daily, sitting and waiting, watching. Calling is awesome when they come. Son in law, got his moose, last year calling from a tree stand, mid Sept. Late August, early September, the bulls start rubbing the velvet off. Seems a good time for brush scraping. Anytime a bull is leaving us, a cow call usually turns them sideways for a bit. We watch bulls scraping and grunting all season long. We do this also. Have taken bulls from late August through late September.
