Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

Golden lever. And from my perspective, they are- they allow a nonresident to access a tag every single year.

Montana already has guaranteed NR tags every single year. Just have to have your hand up longest at the Governor’s tag auction.

Wait - thought you liked those?

Relevance? You think lots of things.
I’m pointing out we already have a guaranteed option for NR’s to secure a tag every year.

Well, perhaps not a mule deer tag. I forgot that’s on a raffle system now. ( That okay with me)

I hate when that happens😉
One thing id like about LE -Resident Landowners would get a proper preference and use of a permit that might suck less, especially off their property. AFAIK - the NR LO handout (635) some endorse so strangely/fondly here would only apply to elk, so a person would need to draw via preference points instead of cutting in line. 2500 acres and buying some legislation too via lobbyists is all it would take, treecarp.

Im cheering for you, if fwp stops selling NR licences change will come fast.

I doubt it. But heres to hoping.
For every one that cries about how nr fund everything and if they stop buy tags fwp will be Broke. There is 100 other nr waiting to scoop up the tag they didn't buy i dont think we will ever have a probably with selling tags to nr in the western states

That is what people were saying before the passage of I161. Montana did sell all the tags, but Montana NR tags were essentially OTC for close to ten years and this promoted NR buying hunting property and forming hunt clubs in Montana. Was also a great for the outfitting industry. Montana can absolutely price themselves out of the NR market.

Curious - do you see concern of NR deer tag sales if its an october season?

I have a hard time seeing someone wanting to hunt Montana for mule deer - if the seasons are open elsewhere with better hunting.

Trust me, it’s not about better hunting elsewhere. Most are just tickled to be able to get the chance to hunt mule deer. If it was a quality issue, there wouldn’t be the problems we you have now. The demand isn’t going away. Ever.

I agree- October likely means harder hunting, but easier camping. I would predict very little NR demand change as well.

Its funny there is a thought going from November to a early October is going to help anything I prefer to hunt mule deer late September to early October with a rifle especially the first week of October.
