Missing CO Hunters

Haven't read all the comments, but was there lightning in the area when the storms rolled in? Wife mentioned that as a possible explanation last night and that

That's concerning...
Dang.. but i figured it wasn't going to end well this far out. I hope whatever happened was quick and painless doing what they loved to do. The families have a little closure now and I hope the questions will be answered for them soon.

Regardless of what they determine the cause of death to be, I think we all owe it to ourselves and loved ones to make every effort to come home.

Pack the rain gear, tops & bottoms. Throw a light weight tarp and emergency blanket in your pack. Buy a damn inreach or zoleo if you don't have one, and turn on the breadcrumb trail. It might not have changed the outcome in this specific case, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
They both had Garmin satellite messengers and their coordinates were broadcast until they both just suddenly stopped.

Rock slide does seem like a possibility at this point.

Really sad deal for all involved. Hope people can learn from this if we get the cause of death. I would highly suspect hypothermia with the two days of extreme storms that went through the area.

Or lightning. If struck I would assume lightning would mess with electronics.

I’m wondering if they didn’t hunker under a tree to get out of the rain and the tree was struck.

Wow, not the outcome I was expecting, but when is death expected? I have heard of Hunters walking off cliffs in the dark and I have heard of hunters dying from having a propane heater in their tent. Hunting is and never was a passive sport. John

Never worried about rockslides in there but it was just one of those places that seemed to get hammered with thunderstorms damn near everyday. A bow is just a lightning rod if you are standing out there. I've already put my bow against a tree and walked a safe distance away from it when in a real pucker factor storm.

Heartbroken for their family and friends. Hats off to S&R

As far as all the possible scenarios presented here, they are all valid and a good reminder for all of us getting out there. Take note: learn, reflect on your normal routine, take heed, and be as prepared as you can for unforseen circumstances.
