Deeply grateful for your and family's service and sacrifice. An individual who joins, does 4 years and gets out is considered to be on "Inactive Reserve" for an additional 4 years. They are subject to recall during that time in the event of war. Military retiree's are subject to recall for their entire life and have to ensure that their contact info is up to date annually. I received "the phone call" on the anniversary of my retirement asking if all of my contact info was current. It was during that phone call that I learned I was subject to recall indefinitely. I was polite when I told the gentleman who had called that I was rated at 90% by the VA and if they wanted to give me a shot at 100% then give me a call. In addition, if they thought I had a bad attitude when I was active, give me a call and find out how bad it could get. LOL!!
