Meateater with feelers out about Hutchinson

I was doin some research on a different forum the other day he had commented on. Kinda weird seeing his name even up in the older stuff online

Made me a little sick thinking about it - seems like a gross thing to profit off of.

Mentioned it to my wife - she said meateater is probably getting the information for a company looking to do do a murder series. I guess thats fairly common, especially with cold cases, so perhaps my feelings are misplaced about selling the story for money.

In any event - one of the stakeholders in meateater inc is a media company, that makes documentaries. I imagine its for them "Zero point zero"

I don’t see it as voyeurism or any sort of debased following of money.

It’s a murder-mystery with a hunting bent, and a weird one at that. Rinella is in the entertainment business.

I think folks on Hunt talk are more likely to have strong feelings about it because he was a member here, but if he wasn’t and it was some story out of someplace you weren’t familiar with about some guy you’d never heard of, it would be an interesting story to follow.

America's obsession with giving the absolute maximum amount of press to every sick and twisted f*ck who commits a horrendous crime isn't a good thing.

I guess I don’t understand what any new meaningful angle meateater could bring. Is the hunting and fishing angle that novel? I understand the kinda professional murder news outlets like 48 hours. But talking to hunting and fishing contacts?

I would find it interesting. I would rather watch that than Janis hike around talking about people needing to bury their poop.

Not really a new thing, at least. Heres one of my favorite episodes of south park (the best barometer for pop culture) and i remember that being a thing for a long time before then.

Dont you remember that creepy old voice from "unsolved mysteries" hahaha its always been weird.

Some of you guys get your undies in a knot over the darnedest things. If you’re not interested in the show, vote with your ratings and don’t watch it.

Yeah, the actor and the crime is gross. The determination and perseverance by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office is top notch and worthy of a news story.

It is definitely not new.

I wish we as a society could discuss the crimes without giving attention to the murderers.

I've been to some school shooting trainings with secret service/NTAC and this was brought up frequently. Giving attention to the criminal doesn't help prevent future atrocities.

We as a society have "outlawed" certain words...perhaps we should add names of shit bags who commit terrible crimes to that list so that it becomes socially unacceptable to say the names.

Just a small thing...instead we give the criminals a bunch of attention instead of the crime and victim(s).

Anyway, I guess Steve is chasing a story that, although terrible, is interesting.

Yeah it feels gross and exploitative. Is there anything left in the outdoor space that they haven't tried to find a way to monetize?
