MeatEater Media, what did I miss?

Congrats! Looks like a good list. A few on there I need to check out. One book that would fit would be A Hunter's Heart by David Petersen.

I've never been much of a reader myself, but I just finished up Steven Rinella's book Meateater after having wanted to read it for a long while now. I realized I like to read when it's a subject that interests me. Hunting interests me. Therefore I just ordered A Thousand Deer by Rick Bass as a result of your reference in the media diet column. Looking forward to reading it.

Those pieces are actually one of my favorite essays on the 'net these days. Always looking for new reading material to put on my radar. Rick Bass' books 'Yaak' and 'Nine Mile Wolves' are also great reads. Best book I've read so far this year is Roderick Nash's 'Wilderness and the American Mind'. Glad you participated Ben, hope he continues doing those articles into the future.

Colberjs, The Meat Eater is a good book, but I really recommend Rinella's book, American Bison. An epic Alaska bison hunt worthy of an entire book. Some of Rick Bass's work is better than others, sometimes he gets too artsy for my tastes, but I think his hunting stories are generally very good. He had a story in the New Yorker called "The Elk" that was over the top.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to check out American Bison. I'd seen it before but I just assumed it was more of a history lesson and I'm not big into reading history.

I'll give of a shot after I get done with A Thousand Deer.
