I drew an Elk tag a several years ago in a unit that had been featured on two different hunts on Randy's Youtube, and was featured at least twice as one of "Guys best Elk units". It has been a thread topic numerous times on several forums as well. I had been in that unit the 3 years prior and when we hunted it, over 17 days, we ran into 1 person in the woods, and saw 1 vehicle parked on the side of the road where it looked like they unloaded an atv. It's easier to draw now than when I drew. Just one example but there are others. The units I look at in multiple states aren't getting "blown up". Obviously it happens, I just don't see a lot of it.
I have no issues with more applicants; I like to see more people/families getting into hunting and enjoying what I've been able to do for the last 55 years. I apply for hunts I believe I can draw and go from there. WY has cut Pronghorn tags by half and herds are sitting just above 300,000, down from 550,000. It's easy to know what happens to odds when that happens.
One thing Randy has touched on and I've mentioned, odds reports only show those who applied for that species, that year. I get data from WY specifically, that shows less than half of all available applicants actually apply in a given year. It takes very few of those people to drop your perceived odds right into the chitter. Just about anything could get those people up off the bench; price hike, poor economy news, etc; it isn't always "influencers".
Randy's doing what he believes in, and I support every aspect of it, to include his "how to apply" videos. I'd support Rinella if he'd act like an adult and use his platforms to advocate for "Hunters for Access" instead of acting like that one jackass that everybody saw in junior high.
I've run into "influencers" when hunting too, it turned out fine.

I think we are already seeing influencers get more bold for the likes, shooting further, risking weather, trespassing, rule bending, etc. The easy stuff has been done and doesn’t get likes anymore.

That and when the hunting has declined in a lot of areas because of them (you’ll never convince me influencers haven’t had a direct and negative impact in a ton of places, including some spots I grew up hunting and love deeply) they get increasingly desperate to get kills for content.
