Matt Rinella knocking it outta the park

Yeah, more than 40 days in the field so far this fall season isn't enough, I fully agree with you!!! Mark it down in the history books, buzz and I agree!
My little calendar says I’m at 53 so far since 8/31. You mean to tell me you haven’t had someone introduce themself to you like “hi I’m muleyfreak, steathyhunter, or backcountrybandit? 🤣

If you don't know them, how do you know that's their intention? Come on. You really think someone would get involved in hunting for likes on instagram???

What were you wearing?! I've never had a hunter give me their IG handle. I've never even heard of someone doing that.
Maybe your camp isn't friendly enough. Our camp has good food and drinks. Were nice and friendly people. 3 of them were people that stopped by our camp and hung out. The other was in the field. One was a OIL moose tag guy. The other 3 were elk and deer hunters. All under the age of 35 except one. Granted we were in a high pressured area and our camp spot was easily accessed from the goat path that everyone drove up.

What i was wearing at camp usually sweat pants and a dewshey outdoors hoodie. In the field usually kuiu hybrid pants and an under Armour storm hoodie and a camp deepwell potter county Pennsylvania hat that is my deceased grandfather's. I look like a dipshit in it but thats OK.

One million percent I think there's people out there hunting and posting in part for likes on Instagram. I think it's pretty well recognized that people do all sorts of activities for likes on Instagram. I don't know the guy, but here's a personal example where I think somebody was hunting for likes. This spring I was sitting in my favorite turkey spot calling in a Tom. I wasn't far from a road; the turkey had to cross it to get to me. As I'm calling it in a Youtube hunter is driving down the road, stops, and shoots it shortly after it crosses the road. I walked up, said "Hey, you got him. I was calling to him for a while." For some reason I still don't understand the hunter denied that it was coming to my call. Okay, that's weird because i've been sitting here the last half hour and it's been gobbling it's way in the entire time. I also watched the whole thing. A little later of course he said "Check out my YouTube channel, I'm from Seattle it's blah blah blah. Somebody told me about this spot, it's a great spot! Not many people here!" One of the most confounding things to me is someone told him about this spot. People are literally willing to blow their own spots to live vicariously through a Youtuber. I don't pretend to know everyone's motivations for why they put stuff on social media but a lot of times it's pretty obvious to me.

Interesting. I spent over 2 weeks in WY. I was solo and camp included the back of my truck and a 2 person backpacking tent for the most part.

I met some great people. During archery season, I met a few guys, one had a OIL moose tag as well. We swapped #s and he shared pics once he tagged his moose.

During rifle season, I met up with a HTer and hunted with him a couple of times, then also met a guy hunting the same general area I was. Both of us solo hunting so we worked together a bit. Swapped #s and have plans to hunt together again in the near future. My camp certainly doesn't sound as pleasant as yours does. My camp was all contained under my truck topper!

No, the argument Matt makes is he doesn’t want people who hunt for social media glorification. He’s fine with new hunters if they’re in it for the “hide, horns, and personal satisfaction”. So what’s your argument knowing that?

You should look a little deeper into what he actually says:

"Maybe 1/4 of the people at the trailhead are there because of SM, but it doesn't really matter, I want them all gone."

Interesting. I've listened to several of his podcast episodes and don't recall that. I wouldn't agree with that take. I've heard him say several times that hunt quietly isn't opposed to new hunters in principle, as long as they're in it for hide, horns and personal satisfaction.
