Looking for MT 203 Honey Holes

We had a great couple weekends hunting for my son’s permit draw. Amazing country, cool hikes & glassing experiences, & quite a few deers. My boy passed on a couple a little smaller & ended up shooting this beaut today! Yah, it’s not a record, but it’s a solid, heavy, nice buck. We got to watch it cruise in out of nowhere & chase a bunch of does around, sniffing tail before giving my boy a nice 200 yd shot. He definitely seemed to be in the rutting spirit, maybe a bit ahead of schedule. Another one of those hunting experiences to cherish & my boy is feeling good! Thanks to the couple sportsman that gave us a little confidence boosting feedback when we drew the tag! * He’s a kid so I drew some sunglasses on his eyes for his privacy 😎

Right on! Nice buck. Me and my daughter I heading down on Nov 21st to 23rd to deer/elk hunt. What caliber did he use?
He shoots a 7mm-08 & it’s served him well on several hunts over the last few years. He started with a .243 his first year when he was 10.

Good luck to you & your daughter, Pagosa! There were plenty of deer around & I’d imagine you’ll see some good ones at that time.
Thanks. We were going to try to go the week prior but she is busy with vball. Im always looking for elk too. Great ranchers/landowners down there

Agree. This unit would be frustrating without those folks.

We found a great landowner and ranch manager on our antelope hunt this year as well. Past two seasons have restored my faith in people’s generosity.
