I was wolf hunting tonight..no wolves...get them in the morning...but found this...
Still has velvet on the back..I think old cactus style buck...but...face chewed off...and ribs are chewed to spine...lots of wolves in area..also cats..no bears...of either species ever seen...

Oh...you can see from pic...a bit of the main beam on both sides eaten of by rodents...but also missing a drop tine on both sides...eaten off as well.

I don't think it is a cactus buck. I've seen that specific kind of deformity several times, mostly in pictures. I think it's a specific condition, but I'm not sure what causes it.

Here's one from this fall.

Here is my theory. There was a bighorn ram and a mule deer doe. The rest of the animal kingdom thought it was wrong, but they were in love. Later that spring, here came little Johnny. Yeah, the other deer laughed and called him names. And rightfully so. The poor guy had taken a full on beating from the ugly stick.

Wow, that is one messed up deer!! Good luck and God bless.

We have seen a couple like this...showed it to another buddy..they have seen one I didn't see...must be a gene thing in the area...two buck still alive...but smaller than this guy in the area
