Anyone have brand preference for a light weight .308 lever action? I’m thinking it will be my pig gun, but will also use it for elk.

Mechanically they're cool guns, I think they're a bit on the ugly side though.

I agree that the missing under tube mag does not reconcile aesthetics but the weight savings and pointy ammo choices of the stack detachable mag is a plus.

Savage 99 was chambered in 308, also the 300 savage chambering is more common in the 99, and just as capable. Not that light, but far ahead of its time, a pleasure to carry and shoot.

If we are removing the weight ask, the correct answer is Ruger #1 with the interdigit 🖐 3 down magazine.

I've thought about getting a Win 88 - but in .284 and not the .308 - but it would be a fun gun for sure in either caliber.
I do have a BLR in .308 - I got it in the late 80's when I was 12 or so. It's been a great gun and still shoots right around MOA with handloads. The trigger pull is not terribly crisp - but it balances great and I love carrying it and shooting it.
Current production guns you can buy new - I would say either the BLR or the Henry's big bore. I haven't shot a Henry's big bore - but I have one of their 22's and they make a quality gun.
If you are good hunting used guns, then a Marlin with a JM stamped barrel - or a Savage 99 that is in good condition would be fine gun safe additions.

I have the Long Ranger in .243 and think it's a great gun. It's accurate, smooth, and nice looking; but it's not a light gun.

No joke. The only one that is marketed as lightweigt is the BLR and it's 6lbs 8oz.

What is light about a BLR? Mine weighed half a ton - on a good day.
